10 ways I deal with Persistent Depressive Disorder

Hey, Lovelies!

For today’s post I will be writing down 10 different ways that help me with my depression. The list below can help if you are looking for more ways to deal with your depression, but I do suggest seeking help from your doctor for more or better tips.

Let’s start, shall we?

  1. Games!

I’m big into video games, such as: Sims 3, Minecraft, GTA 5 and so on. To me, playing games I enjoy keep me distracted until I’m either tired, or bored with playing. So, if you need a little distraction try playing games that you enjoy and could play for hours.

 2. Youtube

If I’m not feeling video games, I usually turn to watching videos on Youtube; anything to keep me distracted! From gamer, to vlogs, and ted talks, I’ll watch anything that will either teach me something new, or make me laugh.

   3. Netflix

Netflix! Everyone loves Netflix! When it comes to watching my favourite movies or TV shows, I tend to favour international movies and shows because of having to read subtitles. Once again, it keeps me distracted! Here are a few of my favourites:

-Just You (A Taiwanese idol romantic-comedy television series.)

-Dream Knight (Korean)

-Boys Over Flowers (South Korean television series)

-Noble, My Love (Korean)

-Fall In Love With Me (Korean)

-The Innocents

INNOCENTS

As you can tell, I love watching romantic-comedies!

 4. Music

Ah, I’m in love with music! I can’t go anywhere without my headphones jammed into my ears with loud music. When I’m feeling depressed, music does play a big part of making me get passed it! Here are my current favourites:

Anna Clendening – Boys Like You

Luke Friend – Hole In My Heart

Lauv – I Like Me Better

Dan Stevens – Evermore (From “Beauty and the Beast”)

Katelyn Tarver – Love Me Again

When I’m depressed, I tend to listen to more indie, soft music but when my depression starts to go away I turn towards more upbeat music. Any songs that just makes me what to jump up and dance my butt off!

 5. Go outside, and hang out with friends!

Go out and explore the world with friends! Disconnect from the world, and just….just breathe. Live in the moment. Enjoy life the best you can.

 6. Take a nap

I’m a big nap person! It usually helps me to settle down and reconnect with my self.

 7. Drink tons of water!

Drinking water, to me, makes me feel pure from the inside out. So, drink tons of water!

8. Live in the moment

Like I’ve said above, just breathe and live in the moment. If you are struggling with how you can do that then read some self-help books. Self-help books are pretty good with helping you keep an open mind, and teaches you how to live in the moment. Give them a try ❤

9. Listen to ASMR

I know this is weird, but ASMR does help with calming you down. Because I have troubles sleeping at night, I use ASMR to help me fall asleep and stay relaxed for the rest of the night! Again, it’s weird listening to it at first, but I do recommend it. ❤

10. Puppies!! (and cats!)

Who doesn’t just gush with love and happiness when around cute puppies or kittens?! If at any point you are stressed, or depressed, go to a pet store or pound. Animals are great for calming oneself, and are great if you need a distraction….AND A BUNCH OF CUDDLES! ❤ ❤

If you guys have any more to add to the list, please let me know, and I’ll give them a try! Also, if you guys have given anything on the list a try, let me know if it worked for you. ❤

Thanks for reading!! ❤ ❤

Love,

Katie.
